Our Story
Before food delivery apps, malls and restaurant groups, there was Savory Escolta.
In postwar Manila, the Ting brothers built the food business that became Savory Luncheonette. By the early 1950s, Savory had become part of Escolta’s busy dining scene, known especially for its chicken and Chinese-Filipino dishes. Historical accounts record that the brothers later went their separate ways, with different branches of the family continuing the Savory tradition in their own ways.
In 1985, Jose Ting established The Original Savory Restaurant.
That is the lineage we carry forward today.
The Original Savory is not about freezing a restaurant in the past. Heritage only matters when it stays alive—when recipes are cooked, families gather, celebrations happen and another generation develops memories of its own.
So we protect what should remain familiar while continuing to improve how the experience reaches today’s customer.
The setting may change.
The way families order may change.
Manila certainly has.
But the purpose remains remarkably simple:
